Every year for the past 6 years my entire family (there are 21 of us now, wowzers!) packs up our blessings and we caravan the 4 hours to the Alisal Dude Ranch. It is four glorious days of ....well, nothing. Just sitting with my sisters and talking for hour on end, riding horses, the boys golfing...a little fishing the kids running for miles out in the fresh air. It is just divine.
It is my favorite way to "kick -off" the holiday season. I always work on my Christmas cards while we are there. Make my party menus. And eat a lot of snacks..okay, so maybe that part is not the best part for me..but after all... it is part of the tradition. It is just such a blessing of TIME.

What a pretty blog you have here! I enjoy your taste in music. And your get-away weekend sounds wonderful! What a wonderful place to gather with your family before the busyness of the holidays begins. Those photos remind me of Lexington, Ky., a favorite place my husband and I lived and a city I love to visit!
